Biographical Highlights
My father, Ramerio Rodrigiez, was a professional baseball player. He also coached and managed several teams in Cuba and the United States. He served as player/manager of the Cuban House of David baseball team from 1931 to 1933. In 1948, he managed the Indianapolis Clowns who played in the Negro National League. My dad owned the Havana Red Sox and sold the team to Syd Pollack in 1928. He stayed on as the manager and the team began barnstorming around Maimi. By 1929, the team introduced comic routines into the games and developed what was to become known as "shadow ball" which was when the infielders would mime throwing a ball around for between-inning warm-ups. These routines would later be made famous in the 1940s by the Indianapolis Clowns and the Harlem Globetrotters.
